See below for the letter that went home with your K-plus kiddo yesterday. It's just a friendly reminder to pack nut-safe snacks for your child each day. Peanuts and nuts for LUNCH are okay, as we have a dedicated allergy-free area for our students. Thank you for your help keeping all of our students safe!

Dear Families,
We are writing this letter to remind you that some of the children in our class
have severe, life-threatening food allergies. These students are allergic to
peanuts and tree nuts and strict avoidance of the allergen is the only way
to prevent an allergic reaction.
It is important that we create a safe learning environment for all students.
Moreover, in order for all students to participate in class activities, we ask
that you avoid sending in snack foods that contain peanuts or tree nuts or
include “made in a factory or on equipment with…” in their ingredient label.
Please read ingredient label when deciding what snack to send to school. If you
have a question about snack items, please don’t hesitate to contact classroom
teacher or school nurse.
Our room parents will be made aware of these allergies to ensure that we
prepare and provide safe and appropriate snacks for special events. Please
remember to follow allergy classroom for Birthday celebrations as well. If any
question about food items, please check with classroom teachers and/or school
nurse.
Also, if you are planning on purchasing a packaged food item for the class,
please provide the ingredients label or packaging so that the ingredients may be
checked for safety.
Here are a few ways you and your child can help a classmate who has food
allergies:
Come to school with clean hands.
Wash your hands or use wipes after eating snacks and lunch.
Don’t share food!
If your child has allergies, please notify the school nurse immediately. Mrs. Cook
keeps a complete record of all identified student allergies and will work with you
to create an allergy action plan to protect your student at school.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact me or Mrs. Cook, our school nurse.
Sincerely,
K-Plus Team
