It's hard to believe we are nearing the end of September! We've settled into a routine, and are ready to jump into new centers, choices and experiences. We have started introducing social-emotional concepts during our circle time using photographs, puppets, role plays and group talks. Our focus this week is on "Fair Ways to Play", and we have seen kids practicing their sharing, taking turns, playing together, and trading toys!

Our apple theme is in full swing! Last week students enjoyed making apple pies with cinnamon-scented playdough. We painted apple trees with bingo dotters, and explored similarities and differences with our set of attribute apples. Kids counted the room with our apple-themed scavenger hunt. Keep an eye out for apple blossom prints made from apple pieces of different sizes and shapes.

Tomorrow, September 26th, we're making Crock Pot Applesauce and tasting it for Foodie Friday - if your child would like to bring in an apple to add to our recipe, you're welcome to send one in!
Our first Foodie Friday was a huge success! We tried three different varieties of apples and made a graph to track our favorites. Pink Lady was the class favorite, followed closely by green Granny Smith and Red Delicious.
We also had a surprise visit from our 1st Mystery Reader, Mrs. Duperron. The kids enjoyed two family favorites and LOVED all of the fun voices in The Pout Pout Fish. If you would like to sign up to be a Mystery Reader, you can find the form here: https://forms.gle/VubkEJvGP74jYp5w9
A few reminders:
Students are welcome to bring in a "Comfort Item" from home to be used during rest time. Please do NOT allow your child to bring toys, accessories or Pokemon cards in their backpacks. These are a distraction, and items might get lost. Thank you for your help in this matter.
