Hello K-Plus Families!
We are happy to report that our year in K-plus is off to a great start. We have spent a lot of time this week establishing our classroom routines and building relationships as we get to know one another. K-plus is a very busy place, and as time goes by these routines and relationships will help us keep a safe, supportive and engaging classroom. We have been extremely impressed by how quickly our class has learned our routines and expectations!
Here’s a quick rundown of our daily schedule:
10:40-11:10 Lunch
11:10-11:40 Recess
11:40-12:30 Rest and Recharge / Bathroom Breaks
12:15- 12:30 Circle Time
12:30-1:30 Centers
1:30-2:00 Snack Time / Read Aloud / Bathroom Breaks
2:00-2:10 Packing Up/Dismissal
Our 30 minute lunch period has been a bit rushed this week. Some of the students have had difficulty remembering whether they have brought lunch (“Home Lunch”) or will be buying lunch (“School Lunch”). In order to help us be more efficient (and to help ensure your child eats what you want them to eat!) We have included a lunch sheet for next week. Please fill it out and return it Tuesday morning. You’ll receive one each week with an updated menu (unless your child ONLY brings “Home Lunch”).
Rest and Recharge time has been an important part of our day - school can be tiring! Students are able to lie down on a nap cot, sit at a table, or sit on the floor while we listen to calming music, stories, or meditations. Feel free to send in a small comfort item with your child to help them relax. It will only be used during Rest and Recharge, and will be kept in your child’s backpack the rest of the day.
Ask your child about all the fun they have had in this week’s centers:
Post Office, K-Plus Café, Blocks, Cars, Dinosaurs, Little House, Quiet Reading, Math (Pattern Blocks), Arts and Crafts (All About Me pennant), Free Drawing, and Puzzles!
Please remember to LABEL everything your child brings or wears to school with their name (or at the very least, initials). Our classroom is HOT due to our bright and sunny windows, so please dress your child in layers they can take off themselves as the day warms up. It will be much easier to return sweaters and jackets to their rightful owners if they are labeled!
